Validity of the card – 5 years
To apply for this card you must have:
1) A valid CITB HS&E Managers & Professionals Test. Haven’t done test? Do this first – Book Black CSCS Card Test
2) An NVQ/SVQ Level 4/5/6/7 qualification certificate or its equivalent.
Steps to get this card:
- Fill out the online application and make the payment.
- Receive an email from the card processing team requesting relevant documents.
- Submit the documents within the given time frame.
- The documents will be reviewed, and if approved, the card will be sent for printing.
- Expect to receive the card within 5 working days.

All the CSCS Cards having Industry Accrediation qualification listed on the back will no longer be valid after 31/12/2024 and will not be renewed from 01/07/2024. Therefore, going forward the easiest to demonstrate competence to obtain a new CSCS Card is via an NVQ.
You cannot renew your CSCS Black Manager Card. However, if you have an NVQ level 4 or above certificate in site management, you can apply for a Black Manager CSCS card, depending on your certificate type. If you find that your CSCS card is about to expire you must start taking step to renew the card by taking a valid and relevant CITB Test and then applying for the renewal of the CSCS Gold Card at least 6 months before the card expiry date.
To get a CSCS Black Manager card, you need two qualifications:
- CITB HS&E Test for Managers & Professionals (MAP)
- NVQ/SVQ Level 4 or above (as applicable)
