  • To obtain a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card, you need to follow these steps:
  • Determine the right card type: The first step is to identify the appropriate CSCS card for your occupation and qualifications. CSCS offers various card types based on your job role, experience, and qualifications
  • Get the required qualifications: Depending on the card type you are applying for, you may need to complete specific qualifications or training courses.
  • To ensure compliance with CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test requirements, it is essential to have passed the test within the last two years. If you have not yet booked the CITB test, you can easily do so by clicking on the provided link or by contacting our customer support team.
  • Complete the application form: Once you have the necessary qualifications and have passed the CITB test, you can proceed to fill out the CSCS card application form.
  • Provide supporting documents: Apart from submitting the application form, you will need to submit supporting documents, such as proof of qualifications, identity documents, and a passport-sized photograph.
  • Processing payment: Pay the application fee.
  • Wait for processing: Once we receive all the required details and documents, we will process your card application within 7 to 10 working days, and it will be sent to you.

You will need:

A scanned copy of your qualification certificate, or proof that you are registered to complete a recognised construction related qualification relevant to your occupation. This will need to be uploaded as part of your application.

The CITB test ID number from your CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test, this can be found at the top of your pass certificate. You must have passed the appropriate test within the last 2 years.

Individuals with construction-related academic qualifications should apply for the Academically Qualified Persons (AQP) card, available for specific degrees, HNDs, HNCs, CIOB Certificates, and NEBOSH diplomas. CSCS does not accept academic qualifications for the Black Manager card. The Black Manager card is reserved for those with relevant Construction Management NVQ/SVQ levels 4, 5, 6, or 7, which assess practical skills and knowledge. The two cards represent different qualifications but are issued at equivalent levels. The occupation listed on the reverse of the card is what matters. Both cards may have "Management" listed on the reverse, depending on the qualification.

CSCS Green Labourer Card

The test is a multiple-choice assessment focusing on health, safety, and environmental matters in construction. It is available for booking at various locations across the UK. For further information on the test and how to make a booking, please refer to CITB Test page.

Yes, all applicants must complete the appropriate CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test up to 2 years prior to applying for their CSCS Card.

Route of Entry Green Basic Skills, Construction Related Occupation and Construction Site Operative Card are no longer valid, as CSCS has stopped issuing them.

In 2015 the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) announced (via the Industrial Strategy: Construction 2025) that skills certification card schemes carrying the CSCS logo must operate with nationally recognised qualifications (NVQs or approved equivalents) in place for all occupations.

All Construction Site Visitor cards issued from 3rd September 2018 will expire on 31st August 2020 and CSCS stopped issuing the card from 28th February 2020.

You need to provide us with your full name, date of birth, personal email, mailing address and the qualification certificate that you hold.

The price of a CSCS card is £60, which includes the £36 CSCS Card fee, administration fee, and VAT.

The CITB test costs £42, covering the £22.50 CITB exam fee, booking fee, and VAT.

For CSCS Card applications, if you cancel within 45 days of your original application or if we've started processing your application, you'll receive a refund minus a £15 admin fee.

However, if your application was submitted more than 30 days ago or has been completed, no refund can be given. It's essential to ensure you have all the correct documentation before submitting your application.

After receiving all the required documents and details it may take 7 – 15 working days to get your card to your mailing address.

All CSCS cards require specific documents based on the job role and the qualifications  you hold.

You can simply fill the online form and select the card type that you currently hold and make the online transactions, then you will receive a duplicate copy of your CSCS Card within a few days.

Yes, you can also book a Green card qualification, which is a mandatory Level 1 health and safety awareness course. If you wish to upgrade your CSCS card and obtain a higher level of qualification, you can book an NVQ Level 2, 3, or 4 qualification, which will allow you to obtain CSCS Blue, Gold, and Black Manager cards.
